Izzy Moreno Recalls Mercedes Mone Open Challenge Speculation, Believes She’ll Get To Wrestle Mone One Day

Back in October, Mercedes Mone hosted an open challenge for her TBS Championship on the Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite. Mone invited any wrestler from Florida to accept the challenge.

There was some speculation that Orlando native Izzy Moreno could’ve answered the challenge, especially given their rocky past on the internet.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Moreno recalled this speculation.

“Everything pointed to it and part of me was like, ‘Wait, am I in it, but I just don’t know? I just thought it was so funny and my best friend, Victoria—by the way please subscribe to her page Victoria Daisy. She’s my freaking girl—she was like she was like, ‘Okay, is it you?’ and I was like, ‘No.’ She was like, ‘Because I feel like you would tell me right away,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah,’ ‘cause Mercedes is like her favorite. I was like, ‘Yeah, you would know ASAP.’ So I know a lot of people wanted it to happen. I also do. I think one day it will. I think the timing of it, even though the timing of it was kind of perfect at the anniversary of it, but I think it was so funny. Everything was falling into place and legitimately people thought it was gonna be me. It wasn’t like three of my fans. People were like, ‘It’s Izzy,’ and I was like, ‘Y’all, I’m flying home from Long Island.”

Lacey Lane, the former Kayden Carter, ended up answering Mone’s open challenge.
