IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Number One Contenders Bout Set For NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20

El Desperado, Taiji Ishimori, Kosei Fujita, and SHO will battle in a four-way bout to determine the number one contender for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title at NPW Wrestle Kingdom 20.

The title is currently held by DOUKI.

Also set for Wrestle Kingdom is a four way matchup that will determine a new number one contender for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. At new Japan Road in Anjo, Taiji Ishimori laid out SHO with a Bloody Cross to secure a win over one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Taking the mic though, it wasn’t SHO he had interest in, but rather DOUKI. Not forgetting or forgiving DOUKI for his tainted Super Jr. Tag League trophy, Ishimori demanded a shot at singles gold instead.

Before DOUKI could respond though, he bumped into El Desperado, who approached to remind the champion how he cheated to beat Desperado for the junior title. Desperado also said DOUKI had unfinished business with Kosei Fujita, who missed the night with a health concern, but had confronted DOUKI full of fury backstage last week in Gifu.

It seemed as if a four way bout for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship was on the cards, but DOUKI had other ideas. Stating that none of Fujita, Desperado nor Ishimori had the right to call themselves challengers, he instead demanded SHO be the fourth man in a number one contendership four way match. What DOUKI’s role as double junior heavyweight champion going into Wrestle Kingdom remains to be seen.
