Hiroshi Tanahashi Touts Success Of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20

NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi speaks on the success of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling held its biggest show of the year on January 4th with its annual Wrestle Kingdom event.

Wrestle Kingdom 20 was headlined by Hiroshi Tanahashi competing in his retirement match against Kazuchika Okada.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Tanahashi said that “over 3.5 million” watched the special “nationwide” and that Wrestle Kingdom 20 exceeded expectations, leaving the outgoing star “completely floored.”

The 3.5 million viewers refer to the tape delay broadcast of the event on TV Asahi.

He added that approximately 155,000 people watched the show live. That number would combine the announced attendance of 46,913 and those streaming live on New Japan World.
