‘Happy Gilmore 2’ sets records on Netflix.

The sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy hit Netflix on Friday, July 25. The film notably features a ton of representation from the world of wrestling, as MJF and Becky Lynch played supporting characters. Nikki Bella briefly appeared in the film as well, portraying Lynch’s golf caddie.

On Tuesday, July 29, Netflix touted the viewership numbers for the movie, revealing that it pulled in 46.7M global viewers over the weekend. The film also ranked #1 for the week in 47 different countries. It placed in the top ten in 88 different countries overall.

Furthermore, this film also secured the biggest U.S. opening ever for a Netflix film. Globally, ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ falls just short of the the Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx action comedy film ‘Back In Action’, which debuted earlier this year with 46.8M global viewers over the first three days.
