Hangman Page looks back on the origin of his ‘Hangman’ name.
In mid 2016, Page would feature as part of The Bullet Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling, beginning to use his Hangman name after joining the faction. Now, Page has looked back on the origin of his ring name.
While speaking to WXII News in a new interview, Hangman Page was asked about the origin of his ‘Hangman’ name, noting that it came about when he began his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling with Bullet Club.
“Oh man, so I joined a group in Japan called Bullet Club. There’s a man working there named Luke Gallows. He was on the way out, I was on the way in. They said, ‘you’re Hangman now.’ I said, ‘I’m going to Japan’ and they said, ‘if you’re Hangman, and I said, ‘okay, sure, yes, I’ll be Hangman.’ So I ended up choking some guys out. That was the thing I did in the ring for a while. Even recently, to win this championship, I had to do that.”
Kenny Omega recently called Page ‘the ace of AEW’. You can read more about that here.
