Hangman Page talks MJF ahead of Forbidden Door.
Hangman Page and MJF are set to go one on one for the AEW World Title at tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event, and for MJF, he has managed to worm his way into a situation where he holds the advantage. If Hangman is counted out or DQ’d, the title will change hands and MJF will not be cashing in his Casino Gauntlet contract after threatening to light Mark Briscoe on fire to get what he wanted from Page.
In a new interview with Jeff Jarrett ahead of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Hangman was asked about the cards that MJF is playing ahead of the pay-per-view.
“It’s the card that he has played since day one. It’s his only card. It’s not the low-hanging fruit. It’s the fruit that has fallen from the tree, hit the ground and began to rot. That is what he reaches for. And he thinks that he’s going to goad me into getting disqualified and he’s going to win the championship that way. It’s not going to happen. Granted, he did manage to get this title shot without using his contract.”
When Jeff brought up Max still having his Casino Gauntlet contract to cash in, Hangman noted that to MJF it’s an insurance policy, and he needs it.
“What Max has to him is an insurance policy. He’s the kind of person who needs it. He’s the kind of person who cannot go all in. He’s the kind of person who cannot put all of their chips on the table when it truly matters. He needs insurance. It’s what he has always needed, and it’s what he has now. But after what I do to him at Forbidden Door, he will think twice about using that contract.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Hangman spoke about the need to differentiate between men’s and women’s world titles in AEW. You can read more about that here.
