Santos Escobar’s WWE Return Was ‘Pleasant Surprise’ To Those Within WWE
The internal reaction to Santos Escobar returning to WWE was a pleasant surprise.
According to new information provided to Fightful Select, sources within WWE didn’t expect Santos Escobar to re-sign with the company after his contract expired and he was moved to the alumni section of the WWE roster page.
It was reported on October 8 that WWE and basketball reached a new agreement after his contract had expired just one day earlier. Reportedly, the promotion made Escobar a significantly larger offer than any of their previous bids, which led to their agreement.
Several people Fightful Select spoke to in WWE were pleasantly surprised that Santos Escobar is back in WWE. Many people thought the “exploding offer” would extend to him as it did for others.

Escobar last competed at AAA x WWE Worlds Collide 2025 in June and hasn’t appeared on WWE-exclusive programming since his match with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown in March. There’s currently no word on when he’ll return to WWE TV.
