Goldberg Says He Put The Brakes On WWE Giving Gage Goldberg An NIL Deal After He Found Out How Much They Were Giving Him

Gage Goldberg, the son of Goldberg, has already gotten a taste of the WWE ring, getting involved in Goldberg’s feud with Bobby Lashley in 2021.

Gage was by his dad’s side at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event as Goldberg made the walk to the ring for one final time against Gunther.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg was asked about Gage’s potential future in wrestling.

“The kid is like me. He wants to be a football player. That’s a dream of his. Then, his ‘back up plan,’ he’s an extremely lucky person to have a back up plan to go to the WWE or be a professional wrestler. I’d say he’s got it in his blood,” he said.

Asked if there were any conversations with WWE, Goldberg said, “They tried to get him in the NIL, but when I found out how much they were going to give him, I put the brakes on that one. They would be ignorant if they didn’t have an idea that it could be in his future.”

Gage plays linebacker at Colorado University. He is entering his sophomore season after playing only 11 snaps as a true freshman.

Elsewhere during the interview, Goldberg explained why he was upset over how his retirement match went down. You can find his full comments here.
