GOA’s Bishop Kaun And Toa Liona Name Dream Tag Match And Meat Madness Opponents
Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona discuss dream tag team matches and ideal “Meat Madness” scenarios in AEW.
Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona are currently known as the GOA, which previously stood for the Gates of Agony. They are now teamed up with Ricochet as a trio, but they also have big ambitions for themselves as a tag team. In AEW, the tag team scene is constantly changing.
Sometimes, two former world champions team up to create a super team, and there are always young stars paired with hopes of reaching a new level in their careers. In any case, there are plenty of exciting potential matches for the GOA.
Speaking with Jeremy Lambert, Sean Ross Sapp, an SP3 on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds, Bishop Kaun named FTR, the Young Bucks, Adam Copeland & Christian Cage, and even The Hardy Boyz as his dream tag team opponents.
“We’ve honestly wrestled almost everyone in AEW, but we haven’t faced Moxley, Danielson, the Young Bucks in a straight-up tag team match. FTR was our second tag team match, and we’re completely different men than we were three and a half years ago. To run those back, it would be night and day. We’re different beasts now. From the New Japan side, we did World Tag League. Our last match was Okada and Tanahashi. We wrestled everybody from New Japan. My dream match is the Hardys. We got to be with them in a battle royal, but I always wanted to wrestle them two-on-two. Those are the guys who inspired me in the business. Hell, Copeland and Christian Cage.”
Toa Liona shifted the conversation, mentioning that he likes it when bulls lock horns, meaning when heavyweights collide. AEW once promoted a Meat Madness Match, bringing all the big men together in a huge wrestling showdown. For Liona, Big Bill, Bobby Lashley, and Brody King make his dream list of Meat Madness opponents.
“I love when there is another big man in the match. Just go mano y mano, two bulls going head-to-head. That’s what I envision for Meat Madness. We may have our athletic stuff that can be in there, but for the most part, it’s beating each other up, and whoever is standing tall at the end is the king. To showcase that is awesome. When we get that match, I can’t wait. I have my eyes set on every big man on the roster every time we work. Whether it’s Big Bill, Brody, Bobby. I want them all. I’m going to be the number one big guy in the company. No better way than to have us showcase that in a match to show we are those men.”
Toa Liona recently got to wrestle Bobby Lashley in a singles encounter. Read his thoughts on that match here.
Ricochet and GOA, now known as The Demand, defeated MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin of the Hurt Syndicate at AEW All Out: Toronto. Fans can find Fightful’s coverage of AEW All Out here. Check out the post-show podcast for a full review here.
