Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs Chimes In On Mick Foley Cutting Ties With WWE Because Of Relationship With Donald Trump
Jacobs comments on his former colleague’s remarks.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley opted to cut ties with WWE because of the company’s relationship with USA President Donald Trump and his administration. Foley’s decision came on the heels of Trump’s social media post about the deaths of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele.
Trump insinuated that Reiner’s death came about because Reiner was outspoken against the Trump administration. This led to Mick Foley noting that he will not be appearing for WWE nor signing a new Legends deal.
Weighing in on Foley’s comments was fellow WWE Hall of Famer and Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs. He appeared on Newsmax and said he’s always known where Foley stands politically but they’ve always been able to keep their political discussions civil. Jacobs thinks Foley is wrong in this situation, but added that he’s entitled to his opinion.
“Well, certainly it’s no surprise. I know where Mick (Foley) is at politically and we’ve had our discussions about politics and we’ve always been able to keep them civil and I wish that could happen more on the public platforms altogether. One thing is we live in a country where we are free to disagree about things, and I think Mick is wrong, but nevertheless, he’s entitled to his opinion. I will defend his right to say that, even if I do think he’s wrong and that’s the beauty of America. I wish that would kind of be all over the place as opposed to just wrestling.”
On 12/22, the White House’s official social media pages posted a video message from WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque. Levesque is on Trump’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.
