Gates Of Agony: Whether The Spot Next To Ricochet Was Meant For Us Or Not, We Took It
Ricochet was looking for some new associates in the summer, and he found two big men by the name of Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun, known together as the Gates of Agony.
Ricochet previously revealed that he was always planned to turn heel after entering AEW as a babyface at All In 2024, though there may have been plans with another team before his turn was delayed.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert, SP3, and Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful’s In The Weeds, Gates of Agony were asked when the pairing with Ricochet was solidified.
“We had to honestly force his hand. He was sitting on commentary one time and watching us wrestle JetSpeed. He was like, ‘Look at these guys. They look like stars.’ We literally impressed this man and forced his hand,” said Kaun.
Toa commented, “We got an opportunity and we went and took it. Whether this spot was for us or not, we took it. We saw an opportunity and a TV spot, we saw someone that equally wanted to work as hard as us, and we became undeniable. They had no choice but to take us.”
Gates of Agony & Ricochet further cemented their status by defeating The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, MVP, & Shelton Benjamin) at AEW All Out.
