Freddie Prinze Jr talks Jeff Hardy’s rise to becoming WWE Champion.
In 2008, Jeff Hardy was arguably one of the hottest wrestling stars on the planet, spending the year chasing the WWE Championship. By the Armageddon pay-per-view in December of that year, Hardy had come close on several occasions before, as Jim Ross put it, ‘realizing the dream of a lifetime’.
While speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, Freddie Prinze Jr, who previously worked as part of WWE creative, was asked what storyline he was most proud of his input on. For Freddie, he would name Jeff’s rise to becoming world champion for the first time.
“There was this dude named Jeff Hardy, and everybody really believed in him, but he had never gotten a real shot at the world title, and I was responsible for writing that storyline, and I directed some of them too, but mainly wrote all the dialogue and the story that kind of took him to winning his first world championship, and that was an amazing moment.”
While previously speaking to Fightful, Freddie recalled the process behind Hardy’s first world championship win and Triple H’s protests about Jeff winning the title. You can read more about that here.
