El Phantasmo Suffered MCL Tear, Injury Will Not Require Surgery

ELP’s recovery timetable is ‘day-to-day.’

An update directly from ELP.

The reigning NJPW World Television Champion El Phantasmo was pulled from several dates on NJPW’s New Japan Soul tour due to a right knee injury.

The exact nature of the injury was shared by Phantasmo on his Instagram Stories. He noted that he suffered an MCL tear, but it will not require surgery and he’s looking at the recovery timetable as ‘day-to-day.’

He added that he overcame cancer and returned to the ring five weeks later, so there’s no reason to worry. Here’s his full post:

Got myself a lil MCL tear. Good news is no surgery and considering this day-to-day.

Hate missing shows but best plan is to recover and not cause more damage before a huge summer of #G1CLIMAX and #ForibiddenDoor.

I had a ball yanked outta my abdomen and I was wrestling 5 weeks later so don’t worry, I’ll see y’all soon.

Phantasmo is scheduled to defend his World Television Title in an open challenge at NJPW Tanahashi Jam on June 29th
