Eddie Kingston: I Could Play A Character But It’s Not Me, It’s Not In Me

Eddie Kingston talks character work.

Eddie Kingston comments on why he is authentically him in the world of pro wrestling.

From the moment Eddie Kingston walked out on AEW Dynamite and told Cody Rhodes that he would put him in the ground and smile, Kingston has become a pro wrestler that many fans have taken to due to his everyman character. For Kingston however, he is not playing a character on screen.

In a new mini-doc filmed in the leadup to Kingston’s return at AEW All Out, Kingston would not that while he could play a character, he just does not feel it’s in him.

“I could play a character. You know, I could do whatever, but just, it’s not me. It’s not in me. So I’m just me, and if, man, if that inspires people, that’s amazing and weird and awesome. I just hope everyone keeps fighting. Whatever they’re going through, I hope they all just keep going and fighting. That’s it. Because that’s all I do. That’s all I do. That’s all I can do.”

Eddie was then asked what goes through his mind just before he walks out from behind the curtain.

“Nothing. Nothing. I’m home. There’s nothing to think about.”

Elsewhere in the same mini-doc, Kingston offered kudos to his AEW All Out opponent, Big Bill. You can read more about that here.
