It was announced during the Zero Hour pre-show that Adam Cole was not medically cleared to compete and that he would have to relinquish the AEW TNT Title. Cole was scheduled to face Fletcher in a singles bout. Garcia, Rhodes, and Guevara were named as the replacement opponents to vie for the vacant TNT Championship.
Before the match, Cole addressed his health issues, saying he would be away for a while.
This was the second match of the night for Guevara and Rhodes. They teamed with The Von Erichs (Ross Von Erich & Marshall Von Erich) to defeat Shane Taylor Promotions (Carlie Bravo, Lee Moriarty, Shane Taylor & Shawn Dean) during Zero Hour.
