Drew McIntyre discusses his Claymore finishing move.
Since returning to WWE for his second stint with the company, McIntyre has utilized the Claymore kick as his finishing move, bringing him multiple world championships in WWE. However, Drew has a unique reasoning for landing on the move.
While speaking to Get Up in a new interview, Drew McIntyre was asked above the move, with the Scot noting that he originally did it to avoid ripping his pants.
“It’s wonderful. You know, I’m 6’8″, 280 pounds, and I love just kicking people in the face. The move came around by accident, actually. I created it. When I was younger, I used to wear these tight leather pants. When I was a kid and I ran to kick somebody in the face, just a regular big boot, I realized the pants were gonna split. I kicked up my other leg, hit my opponent on the face. The reason I did it is because my crotch was gonna burst open in those tight leather pants. I’m Scottish, we don’t love underwear. It could have been embarrassing and that’s where the Claymore came from. It resulted in world title after world title after world title, and what I’m saying is the secret to success is tight leather pants.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, McIntyre highlighted his excitement before heading into WarGames to fight ‘everybody he hates’. You can read more about that here.
