Drew McIntyre: John Cena’s Best Advice To Me Was, ‘You Should Be Able To Sum Up Who You Are In One Sentence’

Drew McIntyre and John Cena never shared the ring in a one-on-one capacity, but they did battle on a handful of occasions across two decades.

They first met in 2010 when Drew was the “Chosen One” and last met in 2025 as part of Cena’s retirement tour.

Speaking to WWE, McIntyre shared the best advice he received from Cena.

“Best one I would say, and it took a while for this one to click with me, is you should be able to sum up who you are in one sentence. A lot of people don’t know who they are, you can see it in their eyes, it takes a while to click. He can sum it up in one word, Superman. I can sum it up in one word, justified,” said McIntyre.

Cena competed in his retirement match on December 13th against Gunther.

McIntyre wasn’t scheduled to compete at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he got involved in the bout between Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi, attacking Rhodes and causing a DQ.
