Drew McIntyre: Jelly Roll’s Jabs Looked And Felt Better Than Most Guys

Drew McIntyre may have been against Jelly Roll in WWE leading into their tag team match at WWE SummerSlam, but he had praise for him after the match.
Appearing on Huge Pop with Donnie DaSilva and Jimmy Korderas, McIntyre was asked about Jelly Roll’s jabs in the match and what it says about the rest of the roster that they looked so good.
“It says a lot. His jabs felt and looked better and most of the guys. I said it recently, I don’t know why it was so controversial, 85%, maybe I’m a little off, maybe it’s like 82% of the roster look like they shouldn’t be WWE superstars. I don’t mean you have to be big and jacked like me. It would help to look like an athlete, my God. You’re in World Wrestling Entertainment. Wrestling is still in there. Athletic endeavor. Look like an athlete. I’m not just saying be huge and jacked. Be in shape, for God’s sake. To find something to make you stand out, something different. What’s going to make you different from everybody else? There are a bunch of guys, to me, that just do the same thing and are very much of the same mold. What’s going to make you stand out from the other guy that is really good at wrestling or high flying, and an injury comes and you can’t do that style anymore?
“It’s just food for thought more than anything, but when I watch the show, I want every segment to be something that catches your eye because we’re on Netflix now and all across the world. We’re cutting these giant TV deals including $1.6 billion on ESPN for the PLEs. There are so many eyeballs on us and people have such short attention spans. Every single one of our segments have to be bangers and have to be something that draw your eye. If you’re not physically larger than life, have something that makes you watch that segment so they are going to think about it from not a wrestling fan perspective. Obviously, we want to entertain our fans, but if people are tuning in for the first time, you have to grab them right away or they’re changing the channel. Maybe they are going to tune in, ‘I’m going to rip on wrestling. Oh, this has got my attention. Wow, look how athletic this person is. Look at this character, there is something different about him or her.’ Think about it and stand out. Also, get in the damn gym. You have all the free time in the world and get paid a bunch of money, you have no friggin’ excuse to be sitting on your couch and eating pizza.”
On Friday’s WWE SmackDown, McIntyre issued a warning to Cody Rhodes.
Elsewhere during the interview, Drew McIntyre commented on CM Punk’s execution of moves. You can find his comments here.
