Details Behind Seth Rollins’ WWE Summerslam Cash In And World Title Win

Seth Rollins’ swerve was complete, and he’s world champion.

Seth Rollins vs. LA Knight was ended abruptly due to what looked like an injury a few weeks ago, in a match that everyone in the know backstage were told that Rollins was slated to win. Upon returning backstage, everyone including many medics and producers were treating the situation as real.

It was kept so close to the vest that even some close to him were concerned when they hadn’t immediately heard back from him. The next night, Rollins showed up at WWE Evolution on crutches, which WWE knew would make its way out.

The following day, John Pollock of POST Wrestling had reported that a contact had noted they’d heard of a planned injury angle at Saturday Night’s Main Event, which Dave Meltzer verified. Sources that Fightful spoke to said they’d heard the same, but weren’t sure if it was a rumor, or if this was a cover for a minor injury. The details around whether if Rollins did have any sort of injury are still unknown.

The plan for the Rollins cash in had been at tentative idea since before Saturday Night’s Main Event. Many suspected that it would happen today, but it wasn’t on internal rundowns that we saw or heard about. In the afternoon staff backstage wasn’t expecting a cash in. Throughout the night, that was updated to not expecting a “cash in.” During the CM Punk vs. Gunther match, Rollins emerged, and then people realized it was going to happen, however it was kept very quiet.

We’re told that they even worked trainees at Black and Brave, Rollins’ wrestling school.

Undertaker was in Gorilla for the segment, and it is believed that WWE Unreal director Chris Weaver also was.

Speaking of things being kept quiet, we’re told the happenings around the main event of night 2 with Cody
