Darby Allin Discusses Claudio Castagnoli Launching Him At Announce Desk: “I’m Like, ‘Whatever Happens, Happens'”

Allin said it would look cooler if he hit the edge of the desk.

There have been several occasions on AEW programming when Claudio Castagnoli has lifted Darby Allin over his head while in the ring and launched Allin’s body at the commentary table.

Those moments were discussed by Allin during the newest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet. Allin says there’s no guarantee that he’s going to land on top of the desk like he usually does.

“There’s a lot of craziness in AEW. A lot. I love watching people push the boundaries. But I’m also trying to be like, ‘What’s a bump that no one would want to take?’ And so I’m looking around. I was like, ‘Dude, this guy’s strong as sh*t. Just throw me, just chuck me.’ I don’t know. There’s nothing to it. It’s just kind of rag doll it.” Allin was asked if he knew he’d land on top of the announce desk and replied, “Not 100 percent but he’s so strong. I’m like, ‘Whatever happens, happens. Let’s just go, wing it.’ Because if I come short and I actually hit the corner of the table, it might look cooler. You don’t know. But yeah, it was super fun.

Sometimes I’m like, ‘Do you want the table to break or you want it to stay strong?’ Just stay strong because it’d be funny if I just bounced off it which I did and it just looked like that thing was unforgiving.”

The last time Allin and Claudio shared the ring in a sanctioned match was at Blood & Guts in November 2025.
