Since the character debuted last year in the form of Chad Gable wearing the mask, the gimmick has been incredibly over not just in the States but also in Mexico, with Ludwig Kaiser also donning the mask. For Corey Graves, he believes that Kaiser took a gimmick that was effectively a death sentence and made it his own.
While speaking to Steel City Sunday in a new interview, Graves spoke about the character, noting that it seemed like a death sentence for Kaiser when he donned the mask.
“Talk about somebody who took a gimmick that was effectively a death sentence. and turned it into, I mean, he is a megastar, it’s crazy he’s a bigger star in Mexico than he is in the United States, which is wild, and I heard rumors he’s European, which makes it all funnier.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Graves spoke about how hard it used to be for WWE superstars to be allowed to take on other opportunities outside of the company. You can read more about that here.
