Cody Rhodes Returns, Issues Challenge To Drew McIntyre For WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE

Rhodes wants McIntyre at Wrestlepalooza.
The main event of the 9/12 Friday Night SmackDown saw Randy Orton compete against Drew McIntyre in a singles match.
The backend of the bout featured Orton lining McIntyre up for a punt kick, but the referee stepped in front of Orton and prevented him from doing so. It gave McIntyre enough time to recover, and he ended up shoving Orton near the referee. When Orton turned around, he was hit with a Claymore Kick, and that put him down for the three-count.
Post-match, McIntyre went after Orton and brought him near the commentary desk. He was about to kick Orton’s head through the bottom of the desk like he did to Cody Rhodes in early August.
Before McIntyre could do so, it was the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes making his return and fighting McIntyre off. Rhodes then grabbed a microphone and stated that he would see McIntyre at WWE’s Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event on 9/20.
Rhodes had been away filming the live-action Street Fighter movie, and he’s playing the role of Guile.
Below is the updated Wrestlepalooza lineup:
- John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
- Vacant WWE Women’s World Championship: IYO SKY vs. Stephanie Vaquer
- CM Punk & AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch
- The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) vs. The Vision (Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker)
- Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
