Cody Rhodes Looks Back At WWE WrestleMania 39 Match Against Roman Reigns: “It Was The First Time In My Entire Career I Had A Complete Match”

A moment of reflection for Rhodes about his first WrestleMania main event.

One year into Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE, he was in the main event of WrestleMania. It was Rhodes challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship, and Reigns defeated Rhodes to retain.

While guest appearing on ALL THE SMOKE, Rhodes looked back at that match and how special it is to him. He said that bout was the first time in his career that he felt like he had a ‘complete match.’

“It just shaped me in a way that I thought it was the first time in my entire career I had a complete match. I know that’s a crazy concept because I was maybe 38 at the time… I had a complete match. I’m a slow, slow learner and that was special to me.”

It was a year later at WrestleMania 40 that Rhodes defeated Reigns to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.
