CM Punk: Somebody Very High In The Office Told Me To Not Wear Macho Man Tribute Gear On TV

Someone tried to stop CM Punk from wearing his iconic Macho Man tribute gear.

Punk wore the gear on the May 23, 2011 edition of WWE Raw, paying tribute to Randy Savage just three days after his sudden passing. As it turns out, Punk was originally told to not wear the gear by a higher up.

“I won’t name names, but somebody very high in the office walked past and saw it and found me and said, ‘Do not wear that gear on television.’ I said, ‘You got it.’ Then, I wore the gear on television because that’s what I do. I’m gonna pay homage to Randy Savage whether you like it or not.” Punk said on WWE Break It Down.

CM Punk teamed with R-Truth in a tag match against John Cena and Rey Mysterio on that episode of Raw.
