The history between CM Punk and Alex Shelley dates back to when Shelley made his way into Ring of Honor and received support and mentorship from Punk. Shelley is on the record speaking about how much Punk has meant to his career.
Punk heaped praise on Shelley during an interview with Robbie Fox. Punk was asked to name the best technical wrestler he’s been in the ring with, and the first name that came to mind was Shelley.
“Oh gosh. Alex Shelley comes to mind. Alex Shelley always would do stuff that would kind of just flabbergast me, you know? Yeah (he’s an innovator), but also really tight and really clean. Not just doing stuff to do it, not sloppy. Real, real slick.”
Shelley is part of the Friday Night SmackDown brand alongside longtime partner Chris Sabin. The Motor City Machine Guns were last in action on the 6/13 SmackDown.
