CM Punk: Being Trusted By The WWE Writers Means A Lot
CM Punk talks about being viewed favorably by the WWE writers.
CM Punk is a huge part of the WWE Unreal series on Netflix. The premise of the series is to pull back the curtain completely on the creative process of WWE. As CM Punk was a significant player entering the 2025 WrestleMania season, he is a focal point of the series as the creative staff in WWE determines the best path to WrestleMania for the majority of WWE’s top talent.
Speaking with Allenownz Wrasslin, Punk was asked about his name frequently being pitched as the winner of the WWE Royal Rumble or WWE Elimination Chamber. Punk says that it means the world to him to be trusted by the WWE writing staff still to carry the ball at this stage in his career because he views himself as more of a player-coach. Also, he candidly admitted that he believes there’s more to him losing at this stage in his career, even if those in charge feel that he’s always a safe bet to put in any high-profile position and come out as the believable victor.
“It means a lot. I think it’s easy to look at it from the outside perspective. Of course, it sounds great. ‘Hey, you’re going to win and you’re going to beat everybody,’ but I’m at the point in my career where I think there’s more story to tell, and there’s more depth in a loss. There’s more depth than rebounding from something,” he said
“I tore my tricep when I first came back here. I, for eight minutes, I really felt bad for myself, I was like, ‘This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me,’ and then I looked at it like an opportunity. ‘Okay, that’s how you feel. This is the worst thing that’s ever happened to you.’ Turn it into the best thing that’s ever happened to you, right? Turn that shit gold. I did that, and that’s how I lead by example, and that’s how I can use my life experiences and talk to somebody else who has, you know, first time they’ve been injured. I can pull them aside and say, ‘Hey, I know what it feels like, and I’m telling you, it’s not the end of the world.’ They can look at me and trust me to know that what I’m saying is fact, because they’ve seen it.”
