Chris Jericho: You Can’t Worry About Ageism, It’s Not A Death Sentence To Be In Your 50s, 60s, or 70s

Chris Jericho is not a fan of ageism.

The history of professional wrestling is decorated with legends that have wrestled until they were in their 60s or 70s. Some stars have even stretched their career to their 80s, even if in a limited capacity.

Speaking with Soundsphere Magazine for a new interview, Chris Jericho talked about ageism in general and how you can still get into music or any form of art if you’re on the older side.

“It’s never too late. Ageism does exist, and you can’t worry about it. Your age is your age, but you can’t worry about it, it’s not a death sentence to be in your 50s, right or your 60s and 70s, there’s still time to do things. Maybe you’re not going to have a career like The Rolling Stones, but you can still do it – write a song, record a song, audition for parts – all that stuff you can still do! The biggest detriment to success that we have is ourselves! Why not (do it)? Someone’s got to do it, so why don’t you?”

Chris Jericho is currently absent from the world of wrestling, as he last wrestled in April 2025 when he dropped the ROH World Championship to Bandido.

Matt Hardy recently made some headlines after talking about Chris Jericho possibly appearing for TNA. Check out his full comments here.
