Tony Schiavone On Chris Jericho Rumors: If There Is Smoke To That Fire, It Has Not Been Thrown My Way
Tony Schiavone comments on the rumors surrounding Chris Jericho.
There is currently a ton of buzz surrounding Jericho’s name, as the 54-year-old liked a post on Instagram suggesting that he should return to WWE. A number outlets followed up with reports on the situation, with WrestleVotes notably saying that there is “significant interest” in Jericho returning to the company.
On the latest episode of his What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone was asked to comment on the rumors.
“If there is smoke to that fire, it has not been thrown my way.”
Schiavone was quick to note that Jericho’s name wasn’t brought up during AEW’s recent trip overseas.
“I was backstage with Tony Khan most of this entire trip. Chris Jericho’s name was not mentioned, but that doesn’t mean anything. Tony a lot of times will make this — he’ll get on the phone with that person and not tell anybody. He likes to keep things close to the vest. I don’t know, I really don’t know. I’ve been wondering myself. I guess I should’ve asked and then I would’ve known.”
Schiavone closed the topic by explaining why he doesn’t tend to ask about stuff like this.
“I don’t ask because I don’t want to get blamed if it leaks. The less you know, the better.”
