Chelsea Green Told Maxxine Dupri That Wrestling Isn’t Everything, ‘It’s Not That Serious, We’re Just Play Fighting In Our Underwear’

Chelsea Green discusses her relationship with Maxxine Dupri.
Over the years, Green and Dupri have often touted their friendship on social media, leading some fans to push for them for work together in WWE.
Speaking with Gabby LaSpisa of the Gabby AF podcast, Green recalled meeting Maxxine Dupri for the first time and how she naturally took her under her wing.
“I actually met Maxxine — I believe she was still in NXT, but she might’ve been just called up and paired with LA Knight. I didn’t have a job yet, I still at TNA and we went for girls night and thought she was such a good person. She was so down to earth. Not that I felt like I wanted to take her under my wing at all, but I think that’s naturally what happens when you become friends with somebody in this industry and when one person has so much more — like I have so many more years in wrestling than she does. Naturally, she’s gonna have questions for me or I’m gonna have advice for her or we’re gonna get into situations where I might give her my two cents. Immediately when I got called back, we were like, oh, we’re traveling together. We traveled together until we got split up, which was absolutely heartbreaking. We just travel on our own, so sad. We have a really good friendship and with that comes honestly, so I just tell her what I think.”
Green also recalled giving some advice to Dupri, telling her that wrestling isn’t everything and encouraging her to do things outside of the business.
“Also, I always want to remind all of my friends but especially somebody that was so new to the business — this isn’t everything. I know it feels like everything and the weight of this world comes crashing down at times, you have a bad match or the internet doesn’t like you or you flub your line. It’s not that serious, we’re just play fighting in our underwear and you need to put the phone away and go to bed, do things for yourself, have a hobby or hang out with your fiancé or whatever makes you happy. Do things outside of this so that it doesn’t feel so heavy. I think because I’ve been doing it for so long, it’s easier for me to say that, but we’re a good balance for each other.”
