Charlotte Flair Doesn’t Think She Was Ready For Divas Championship Win In 2015, ‘The Titled Owned Me, I Didn’t Own The Title’

Charlotte Flair wasn’t ready in 2015.

Just a few months after debuting on the main roster, Charlotte Flair was able to defeat Nikki Bella to win the Divas Championship at the Night Of Champions event. The reign lasted nearly 200 days before the title was converted into the WWE Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 32.

Speaking with Kate Mackz for a new interview, Charlotte said that she wasn’t ready for a championship in 2015.

“When I won the Diva’s Championship from Nikki Bella, I wasn’t ready. The title owned me, I didn’t own the title. You don’t want it to be about the title, you want it to be about you. It’s about the person holding it. So I didn’t think I got to that until I became the inaugural Raw Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 32 and I retired the Diva’s Championship.”

Flair is currently one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Alexa Bliss.

WWE Wrestlepalooza is set to take place on Saturday, September 20. Fans can check out the show’s full lineup by clicking here.
