Brooke Hogan Details Relationship With Her Dad Hulk Hogan, Concerns Over His Health

Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24th from a heart attack.

On June 18, Bubba The Love Sponge stated that Hulk Hogan was not doing well and that he was in the hospital, alluding to Hogan being on his deathbed. Eric Bischoff and Hogan’s team shut down the rumor, saying that Hogan was recovering from a successful cervical surgery.

On August 5th, Brooke Hogan called into Bubba’s show and offered details on her father and his health.

Brooke began by apologizing to Bubba, saying that her dad told her that Hulk knew Bubba didn’t leak the sex tape between Hulk and Bubba’s ex-wife.

“My dad told me that he knew it wasn’t you who leaked the tape. I’ve been watching you take the heat for it and hearing you saying, ‘Sorry, sorry, sorry.’ I know you have a guilty conscience. My dad told me the real story that it was your home files when you got divorced, that you ran down your security footage, and he said one of your employees had it and they took it from you. He knew it wasn’t you. I just want to apologize,” she said.

Brooke continued, expressing her concerns over her dad’s health.

“Me being through 25 surgeries with him and knowing that man and his health like a roadmap, I could tell that you cared and were worried. It pisses me off that his people around him are telling him the truth and getting people to pray and help him, even though I was in contact with him for certain reasons, there are people around him that I didn’t want to tangle with,” she said.

Brooke continued, speaking highly of Hogan’s second wife, Jennifer McDaniel.

“He was telling me people around him, one business partner in particular, I was in his kitchen after he divorced Jenn, that woman was a saint. Me and Jenn went through all the surgeries together and we would take shifts. That’s what has me puzzled. They are saying, ‘he has leukemia’ and I’m like, ‘I saw his bloodwork every time.’ One doctor, I quote, said, ‘His blood is like a 25-year-old.’ He took the most care of his body. He went to an anti-aging specialist. You have to do a blood panel before any major surgery. How did nobody catch a high white blood cell count? That’s what bothers me the most. We don’t have cancer that runs in my family. It seems weird. I’ve been out of his life for two years, not by choice. I don’t think my brother or anybody understands the conversations we were having.”

She continued, “There is a business partner of his, I’m standing in his kitchen, and one of the last times I saw my dad, he goes, ‘Well, insert name, F’d me over real bad.’ I said, ‘Shit, I could have told you that. Mom never liked him.’ They’ve known each other for a long time and I’ve never had a good feeling about this guy.”

She circled away from the business partner, going back to speaking on Jennifer and Hogan’s third wife Sky and Hulk’s health.

“With his dating life, after Jenn, he dated people. Sky was always super nice to me, but he was expressing concerns in that area, just with how they got along. I told him, ‘If you need to end it, I’ll be your fall guy. Just say I don’t like her. I’m on your side. Whatever you need from me, I got you.’ Out of nowhere, he did a 180 and started working with the person he said screwed him over. He said, ‘I’m not getting married again,’ and literally two weeks later he got married. It was a weird turn of events. We went back and forth on text messages and I said, ‘Dad, this is the time for a fresh start and to make the right decisions and stop the madness. Let’s not make another decision that blows our family up again. You’ve got more money than God. Let’s ride the boat off into the sunset.’ Me and Jenn had him, not in mint condition, but pretty good. We had him going pretty good. I even told my husband, ‘Looking at him now, in my heart of hearts, I can see him living to be 85. I can see him making it to 85 or around there.’ His heart was compromised, but that spinal surgery shouldn’t have been the thing to take him out. Opiods would have been because they slow your breathing if you’ve had a major heart surgery. I sent over my detailed notes, and on the notes it said, ‘No opioids.’ He even asked me, ‘Tell them no opioids’ because it would slow his breathing down and he wouldn’t have oxygen. When I heard about acidosis and I was putting the pieces together and what I was hearing, I knew what was going down and that it was the beginning of the end. I caught nurses trying to take pictures with him as he was coming out of anesthesia. Me and Jennifer literally had to be like guards. There were no limits. Nurses would try to take pictures while he was sleeping. I caught people double-dosing him and giving him the wrong medications. These last two years, I don’t know how much work people were putting in, but me and Jenn did the heavy lifting and had him in a really good spot.

“I do think it’s weird no autopsy was performed because yes, you can have a heart attack, but what was the reason for the heart attack? If he was up and doing breathing exercises, that means the surgery on his heart was a success and was working. The first thing, if he wanted to AFib, the first thing doctors would want to do is cardioversion or ablation. He had so many abrasions and cardioversions. I remember back then praying, ‘Dear God, please don’t let this be the day my dad dies.’ He got through all of it and there was one day he was like, ‘My heart is starting to race.’ I was like, ‘Dad, try something different. Take a Valium. Lay down, drink some water, breathe.’ I bought cans of oxygen. ‘Take a hit of oxygen, take a valium, lie down, chill.’ His heart returned back to rhythm. ‘Maybe we’re over doing it. Chill out. The less surgeries, the better. Let’s try to keep you out of surgery because every time you go under anesthesia, it’s hard on your body.’ The no autopsy and the leukemia out of nowhere hits me as BS. I would be surprised that a surgery would work on somebody with leukemia or would see a high white blood cell count and not do further investigation.”

Brooke said she doesn’t have any of Hulk’s memorabilia and if she did, she would want to honor his legacy.

“I had his best interest in hand. When he got married to Sky, what happened was, he called me and there was a weird, cryptic and strange message. It reminded me of when people in AA do their steps. He said, ‘Hey, I just wanted to call and say I’m sorry for whatever I did.’ I’m like, no offense, but what you said about me on he sex tape? Whatever you did? There are a lot of things that we could go through that you’ve done. What are we sorry about? He didn’t go into detail to is was a vague and weird thing. I hung up the phone and looked at Steve and said, ‘He’s going to marry her.’ That’s the last time I talked to my dad. I was feeling weird about it. I had warned him about people around him in his business,” she said.

During Brooke’s appearance, Bubba revealed that Hulk wrote the letter from SoBe saying that they were parting ways with Brooke. Brooke was shocked to learn the news, and stated she had just reconnected with SoBe.

“What my dad doesn’t know is that no matter what he ever did, I would forgive him for and love him. He didn’t even tell me what the N word was about. He said, ‘Yo, I just need you to defend me. Somebody caught me saying the N word.’ I just went out there like a fool. ‘My dad was joking or quoting a movie.’ My friend in Nashville was like, ‘Brooke, I don’t think you realize how bad it is, he’s talking bad about you and it’s a sex tape and he’s talking about you and your boyfriend.’ I was so young and guilable. Instead of making a retraction statement, I was too afraid. My family is powerful and scary. I was afraid to speak up,” she said.

Brooke said she is grappling with a lot of things and she told him that she didn’t feel good about certain things. “He literally said, ‘You have to live your life and I have to live mine.'”

She said that she loved her father and once she had her family to lose, money didn’t matter. Brooke said she didn’t want to fight Scientology or her mother Linda Hogan when it came to fighting over money.

“I was sobbing when I wrote the text to the guy who manages his money. I just said, ‘Take me off everything, I just….I don’t want to be a part of it,’” she said. “I don’t want to fight Linda, I don’t want to fight Scientology. I don’t want someone I love to get knocked off. I don’t know how deep this goes.”

She said she texted someone in Hulk’s camp that nobody would tell him to sit down and take it easy because everyone is getting paid.

Brooke confirmed that she did ask her dad to walk her down the aisle and that her husband had reached out to Hulk throughout the past two years to try and mend their relationship, including when Brooke had complications with her pregnancy.

WWE has paid tribute to Hulk multiple times since his passing. Nick Hogan has attended shows.
