Brandon Cutler Recalls Tony Khan Not Wanting Him To Wear Tracksuit With Words ‘Young Boy’ On It On AEW TV

Khan did not want those words on any of the tracksuits.

Some of Brandon Cutler’s run in All Elite Wrestling was covered on an episode of Master Class. Cutler shared a story from his time with the company thus far, and it had to do with his pairing with The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson).

Cutler said when he first started wearing tracksuits to the ring, there was an idea in mind to have ‘young boy’ written on the tracksuits because he was The Young Bucks’ young boy, harkening back to NJPW young boys, a.k.a. Young Lions. Cutler shared that AEW President Tony Khan did not want those words on the tracksuits.

“The Bucks were like, ‘Hey, well, we kind of wanna do this thing if we had our own –’ like in Japan, they call him a young boy. But they didn’t wanna use that term out here or anything of like, ‘Uh, that might not come off right with American audiences or something…’ On the very first original tracksuit I had, it was a black tracksuit, I think, with the white lines down the side and on the back, it said ‘young boy’ on it. That was the one time we used it was the very first debut one of like, oh, we’ll have him — and then Tony (Khan) was like, ‘I don’t want that on the back of any of ‘em.’ He’s like, ‘Just have it be blank. Don’t have anything on it.’ ‘Okay.’”

Cutler wrestled for Ring of Honor in January. He last appeared on AEW television before The Young Bucks kicked off their E.V.P. storyline.
