Booker T Says Hulk Hogan Vouched For Harlem Heat’s Push In WCW
Booker T reflects on Hulk Hogan vouching for him and Stevie Ray, Harlem Heat, to be a top team in WCW.
Long before Booker T was a top singles star in WCW and WWE, he was part of Harlem Heat, one of the most successful tag teams of the 1990s. He and his brother Stevie Ray held the WCW Tag Team Titles on multiple occasions. Now, the multi-time world champion is reflecting on Hulk Hogan’s support of Harlem Heat.
Speaking with Esports Insider, Booker T said he gives Hulk Hogan a lot of credit for opening the door for himself and his brother to become a top team in World Championship Wrestling.
“He just talked to the office, they were looking for a tag team, and who was gonna be the next team to break through, and we were right there, but everybody was looking past us.
“Hulk actually said, ‘You guys are looking for a tag team. These are your guys right here, Harlem Heat.’ That’s when the ball really got kicked off with my brother and I, and we went on a run that never would be duplicated. So I give him a lot of credit for that.”
Hulk Hogan, who passed away in July 2025, had received backlash in the years before his passing over racist comments he made in a leaked video from 2006.
