Booker T On The Storyline Where Kurt Angle Was Harassing His Wife: ‘It’s Movies’

Booker T reflects on the angle from the spring of 2005 when Kurt Angle was sexually harassing his wife.

Kurt Angle demonstrated a wide range of his character abilities in WWE. For example, in 2005, he transitioned from wrestling JBL and The Big Show, being obsessed with becoming WWE Champion, to tearing the house down with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania in a storyline where the catalyst was his determination to prove himself the better wrestler than HBK.

However, sometimes wanting to be a champion or prove that you’re the best wrestler in the world isn’t the launching point of a feud. Sometimes, you tell your opponent that you want to have “bestiality sex” with their wife. Such was the case when Kurt Angle picked a fight with Booker T, leading to their match at WWE Judgment Day 2005. Leading up to the match, Angle called Sharmell a “gutter slut” and proudly declared that that’s what he couldn’t get enough of.

Kurt Angle and Booker T are actually great friends, and to Booker, it was all showbiz. However, in an interview with Esports Insider, Booker admits that Kurt Angle had a problem with the story because of the amount of respect he had for the five-time WCW Champion.

“It’s movies! Kurt didn’t like it. Because Kurt respects me so much, but it’s movies.

“My wife and Kurt, they never came close to each other outside the camera. So it was movies, it was making fans feel a certain way. For me, I have always looked at wrestling like it’s a movie. We had a lot to do with the way things were played out, so when you do it, you gotta make it real. So I had no problems with it. Kurt is one of my best friends.”
