Booker T says he never saw himself as a teacher while he was an active professional wrestler, but he did see himself as a student of the game.
Booker has been a name who has been involved in training the wrestlers of the future since opening his school in 2005, in what has now become known as Reality of Wrestling.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown in a new interview, Booker T was asked if he ever saw himself as a teacher while he was an active pro wrestler.
“Not really. I never really- as when I was actually working, I didn’t think of myself as a teacher or anything like that, but I did look at myself as a student of the game. You got to really be diligent as far as what it takes to make it to the next level, and not just what it takes to make it to the next level, what it takes to work with those guys at that next level. So for me, I always thought about that. I think that’s just what- it just kind of like boiled over. But I’ve always been a guy that wanted to see the most for young people. I got a saying, you know, we’ve said respect your elders for years, but I always say, you know, we’re in a different phase of life. You got to respect your young people because they are the future.”
Elsewhere, Booker spoke about his recent comments surrounding Josh Briggs. You can read more about that here.
