Blue Panther Looks Back On Bryan Danielson Using His Mask At AEW All In, Match Against Lee Moriarty At ROH Supercard Of Honor
Two moments that Blue Panther reflected on.
As Blue Panther was being interviewed by Fightful’s Luis Pulido, Panther’s ROH Pure Championship match against Lee Moriarty from ROH Supercard of Honor was brought up.
Panther dove into that, and in the midst of his response, he spoke about Bryan Danielson sporting a Blue Panther mask when he appeared in the main event of AEW All In Texas.
“Pleased, very motivated, very emotional issues. Indeed, I fought Lee Moriarty, and he was better than me. He beat me, he submitted me with a hold, in which those holds are not seen, they are not seen, but how they feel. The next day, I had to go back to Mexico City; we had a commitment, and Hijo de Blue Panther came up to me and said, “Hey, Dad, look what Daniel Bryan just did.” He showed me a video where he’s in the corner, and the crowd is, as always, crazy about him. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it, although many people haven’t seen it, I’ve seen a single person, a single wrestler, established stars, super idols, superstars, just raise their hand, and Arena Mexico went wild. I have a lot of respect for my elders, all my masters, who are the ones who have given Mexican wrestling its reputation. But talking about Daniel Bryan is something very special. He is a human being whom we have seen as a leading figure who has grown and bettered himself. Being next to him and not learning from him is like not wanting to step out of your comfort zone. But he is a great person, a human being, and a very creative person. I am not very close to him. I am sincere about him; I will be truthful with everyone, but I am not very close to him. The times we have bumped into each other, the times we have seen each other somewhere, we hug each other. And you can feel when a hug is affectionate, unlike other hugs, when it’s really a Judas hug. And with Daniel, I have nothing but respect for him; he has all my admiration and respect. The times I’ve seen him, it’s a very brotherly hug, as if we were friends from many years ago, perhaps because we speak the same language, and respect.”
As a follow-up, Blue Panther was jokingly asked if Danielson stole his mask, and he responded with the following:
“I was already flying to Mexico City, because I was there on Friday, and this was on Saturday. So, I had to go back to Mexico City because I had a presentation here. So, when I arrived at night, around 11 or 12, my son, Hijo de Blue Panther, who supports me a lot in these matters, told me: Look, Dad, the internet is broken. And a lot of people said to me, “Hey, didn’t you have four children?” Well, yes, I have three sons. They are Blue Panther Jr., Dark Panther, and Hijo de Blue Panther. But then they would say, “No, now you have four.” “Who’s that?” He says, “Watch it.” And it was Daniel Bryan. He doesn’t know that, and I’m not going to tell him, and I have no reason to disrespect him. I’m telling you this because someone close to wrestling might make comments like this, but no, I respect the man from head to toe.”
