Babes Of Wrath Share Their Thoughts On How They Define The Identity of AEW’s Women’s Division

The Women’s Tag Champs weigh in.

Fightful is on location in Australia (via Downunder the Ring) ahead of AEW Grand Slam Australia and AEW House Rules.

While in the country, the current AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron, were interviewed. They were asked for their thoughts about the identity of AEW’s women’s division. Here’s what they told Fightful:

Cameron: “It’s thriving, it’s evolving, it’s growing. We have seen the development of many new tag teams and I mean, we are — in ourself — we are a newly-formed tag team and I think that that has potentially inspired the hunger for other people to see what is possible out there. We have The Brawling Birds that have just joined forces, and I think the exciting thing about the women’s division right now is it took the right time for the belts to be introduced, and it feels exciting that we are the inaugural champions but it’s also exciting thinking about the future, and what that holds for everyone and the opportunity that could bring. So, there’s a lot of fire up everyone’s ass at the moment I think, and I think it’s been good and inspiring.”

Nightingale: “You know what I think is actually really beautiful is I feel like for so long, women wrestlers were portrayed as catty, backstabbing, every woman on their own. To have a friend, to have a partner to face the world against. It’s not like every woman in the world is out for one another. We can support each other. We can have friends. It’s beautiful. So of course, from a wrestling perspective, it’s good to have more opportunities to have a different way to shine. But also, just in a bigger picture kind of way, I think it sends a good message that hey, hey girl watching the show, hey, you can find support in other women. You don’t have to tear each other down.”

Nightingale and Cameron are scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Tag Titles at Grand Slam Australia against MegaBad (Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne).
