Atlantis Talks Legacy, Sons Following In His Footsteps, And More
CMLL legend Atlantis comments on his sons, Hijo de Atlantis and Atlantis Jr., following in his footsteps.
Atlantis is not only a legendary Luchador, but he’s also still competing today. Additionally, he’s had the good fortune of wrestling alongside his son, Atlantis Jr. Recently, Atlantis was interviewed by Fightful Español’s Luis Pulido. During the interview, he shared some insights on his conversations with his children about the challenges of the wrestling industry.
Regarding Atlantis Jr., he recalled telling him that he didn’t just want to see him imitate him; he wants to see his son surpass his success.
“I told Atlantis Jr. that wrestling is like that, the discipline is this, you have to really want it, because you have to fight in the style of the American, the Japanese in their style, the English have theirs, the Canadians, the Mexican matches, they are all different. He is a very intelligent boy and retains everything, all the tips from outside of the ring as a dad, and above the ring as a professional, and I think Atlantis Jr. will do very well, so he is growing quite fast.
“I told him he was lucky because what I learned in forty-two years, I am injecting you with that: the experience at national and international level in two years, but I am very happy that he has that retention, that desire to excel big time. Atlantis always faced great rivals to be great. So, he is with that sight and I tell him, I don’t want you to be like me, I want you to be better than me, but look forward to it because you have many years left to go and discipline, your dad’s discipline has led him to success and without fear of success, Atlantis (Jr).”
As for Hijo de Atlantis and when he can officially debut, Atlantis teased that an official announcement may be forthcoming in the latter half of 2025 or early 2026.
“That was just a taste for the fans, for the fans who support and follow the Atlantis brand, so this Atlantis, Atlantis Jr. and Hijo de Atlantis, is cooking, I think that it’s almost time for him to be in the ring, I give it in the exams, I give it the go-ahead because I know that it is not easy to wear the Atlantis mask. It’s the same thing I told Atlantis Jr, that you have to be eager, then you have to debut everything one hundred percent like a rookie. It’s hard to grab time, he’s gaining experience as Atlantis Jr. He already has six, seven years of professional and has fought with all parts of the world.
“So, that’s gaining a lot of experience. But I hope, that was the platform, it was a taste in February at the FantasticaMania. All the press came from Mexico reached out, wanted to interview him, many promoters already wanted to bring him in and I told them to wait. That was just a little taste so that people know that Hijo de Atlantis is coming. But I think that at the end of the year or beginning of 2026 we will have a conference and we will already give it to the public light at national and international level.”
