Athena Says She Would Absolutely Defend ROH Women’s Title Against Mercedes Mone
Athena is on the verge of hitting 1000 days as the ROH Women’s Champion, declaring herself as the forever champion.
Though she has yet to lose a title match, she has been defeated by Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm in non-title bouts on AEW TV.
Speaking at the ROH Death Before Dishonor press conference, Athena was asked by WIP Wrestling if she would consider defending her ROH Women’s Title against Mone.
“Absolutely. Absolutely. It’s not even a question. She had to cheat to beat me the first time, and I was trying to play it safe, if you will. Honestly, that taught me that I can never take an opponent lightly. That, including Ms. Toni Storm, I maybe stuck my foot in my mouth a little bit. I’m not afraid to admit that. When it comes to Ring of Honor, I’ve done everything possible to keep this championship around my waist and now it’s time to do a mentality switch versus taking people lightly and saying, ‘I’m going to do whatever it takes to win and I don’t care who I hurt in the process,'” replied Athena.
Athena successfully defended her ROH Women’s Title against Mina Shirakawa at ROH Death Before Dishonor.
