Athena reacts to the suggestion she is underappreciated.
‘The Fallen Goddess’ has been Ring Of Honor Women’s World Champion for almost a thousand days, and is the longest reigning in Ring Of Honor and All Elite Wrestling history. In recent months, she has found herself a prominent figure on AEW television, winning the women’s Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In last month to earn a title shot against ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, a match that will take place at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door later today.
In a new video published on AEW’s YouTube channel ahead of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Athena was interviewed by RJ City ahead of the show. RJ would ask Athena if she feels underappreciated, leading to the ROH Women’s World Champion blowing up at RJ.
“No, of course I feel underappreciated because idiots like you have to ask me that question. I’m the longest reigning champion in all of company history, about to hit 1,000 days, over 960. Why do you have to ask that question? You should know the answer. Of course I’m underappreciated. Of course everyone tries to put Ring of Honor on this tiny little island. When I put in the work, I’ve beaten former AEW champions. I’ve beaten almost everyone around the world, and yet you ask me that stupid question like you don’t know how I feel.”
RJ would then ask Athena what her strategy is ahead of her match with Storm, with ‘The Fallen Goddess’ once again blowing up at RJ’s question.
“Why would I tell you? You don’t think we know you were secretly directing all of her black-and-white silent films? You think we don’t know that? You’re nothing but a narc. You’re a leak. I know as soon as we’re done with this, you’re going to dial up on the rotary for your little Miss Toni Storm, and you’re going to tell her all of that information. So why would I share that with you, RJ? Why?”
