Aleister Black Says There Was A Discussion Regarding Him Being Randy Orton’s Opponent At WrestleMania 41
Aleister Black made his return to WWE on the SmackDown after WrestleMania, laying out The Miz.
Black’s return had been teased for weeks through a series of vignettes on WWE SmackDown.
Fans speculated that Black might make his return at WrestleMania 41 as the mystery opponent for Randy Orton, who issued an open challenge after Kevin Owens had to miss the match due to injury.
Speaking to Bernard Colas of Le10Sport, Black was asked if he heard anything about being Orton’s opponent.
“From what I’m told, there was a discussion about it. But for obvious reasons, it didn’t go any further because they had another plan. But the option was considered. It was a thought process like, “What if we do it? Well, maybe not, okay.” That’s all I heard. The fact that they discussed it at all is pretty cool. And I would have jumped at it with open arms because any time I get a chance to wrestle Randy, it’s a good time, because Randy, he’s… he’s Randy Orton, you know! He’s Randy Orton. At WrestleMania. How could I say no? You know what I mean? I’d be scared shitless, but I’d do it. It would be crazy,” he said.
Orton ended up facing Joe Hendry at WrestleMania 41.
Black did share the ring with Orton on the June 13th episode of WWE SmackDown in a King of the Ring fatal four-way. Orton was victorious in the bout, defeating Black, Carmelo Hayes, and LA Knight.
