Ronda Rousey Says She Is Training Again For The Joy, No Plans Of World Domination

Ronda Rousey has been spotted training again, hitting pads and grappling in her free time. Rousey has not competed in MMA since 2016 when she was KO’d by Amanda Nunes.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Ronda explained her reason for training again.

“I started training in MMA again because I feel like when I kind of lost that identity of being a fighter, it broke my heart too much to be anywhere near it because I love it so much. I kind of went to the extreme of, ‘I don’t want to train or do anything,” she said.

She noted that her training started with helping a coach with judo and gradually increased to more grappling and striking.

“It came from a place of joy, and I just want to do it because I enjoy it instead of feeling obligated or forced to be doing for one reason or another. It’s what my body really wants. I’ve been training my whole life and I feel healthier and better. I want to train again. It makes me happy. It’s funny that I’m training and everyone is like, ‘What are you training for? What are you doing?’ ‘For my own joy. Is that bad?'”

Charlemagne said that people see her train and think it means she wants to return to the Octagon.

Rousey replied, “They’re like, ‘Well, you look so good.’ Well, because I’m the greatest ever, of course, this is what happens when I train. I look great, I’m sorry. I don’t have to have a plan for world domination in mind. Mike Tyson coming back and being the biggest fight of last year kind of proves that I don’t think anyone is done.”

Rousey transitioned to the world of pro wrestling after her run in MMA.
