Frankie Edgar To Come Out Of Retirement At BKFC On October 4

Frankie Edgar is coming out of retirement to fight for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

Edgar will face Jimmie Rivera on October 4th, pending New Jersey State Athletic Control Board approval.

Ariel Helwani first reported the news.

Edgar, 43, retired from MMA in November 2022 after suffering a KO loss to Chris Gutiérrez. Edgar is one of the greatest lightweight fighters in UFC history, holding the UFC Lightweight Title and making three successful title defenses during his time. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2024.

Edgar lost his last three UFC fights, all by KO. He was 1-5 in his last six fights with his only victory coming by split decision against Pedro Munhoz in August 2020. Edgar has the third-longest fight time in UFC history, spending nearly eight hours inside the Octagon.

Rivera, 36, is also a UFC veteran. He went 23-5 in his MMA career, last competing in February 2021 in a loss to Pedro Munhoz.
