Canelo Alvarez To Fight On September 12 In Saudi Arabia

Canelo Alvarez will return to the ring in September.

Ring Magazine reports that Alvarez will fight on September 12 in Saudi Arabia. An opponent has not been announced.

“The 12th of September, a big, big, big fight,” said Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and owner of The Ring. This will be the first card for Canelo Promotions. It will be named ‘Mexico Against the World.’ All the fighters from the team of Canelo against the world, and [Alvarez] in the main event [for] a world title, and it will be a surprise in Saudi Arabia, in sha Allah.”

Alvarez last fought in September 2025, losing to Terence Crawford by unanimous decision. He underwent elbow surgery after the fight.

He exercised his contractual right to a rematch with Crawford, but “Bud” retired in December and won’t be fighting Alvarez unless he makes the decision to come out of retirement.

The 35-year-old Alvarez is 63-3-2 in his career with 39 KOs.
