Oba Femi looks back on competing on the same card as John Cena’s final matchup.
On the December 13th edition of WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cena would compete in his final match against Gunther, retiring from the world of professional wrestling following the bout. Earlier on in the night, Oba Femi got his first taste of the WWE main roster when he clashed with then WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo in a new interview, Oba recalled speaking with Cena backstage at the event, noting that the pair congratulated each other on that night.
“Yes, I did. I did. It was very pleasant. Nothing too business-y, nothing too wrestling-y. It was just a pleasant, you know, conversation, how he’s doing, how I’m doing. He said congratulations. I told him congratulations as well. What a run. You know, household name, Big Match John, Super Cena. So it was good to be there, present. on his last one.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Femi spoke about Brock Lesnar, noting that he was a big inspiration for his wrestling character. You can read more about that here.
