MJF Names Kevin Steen, Not Kevin Owens, As His Dream Match

MJF still has a long career ahead of himself, with plenty of dream matches on the table.

MJF has always named Roddy Piper as his dream match, but how about a match that is still possible with someone that is alive?

That was the question posed to MJF by Chris Van Vliet on Insight.

“I think this answer is going to shock people, because also, I will say I can’t pick people that are retired. John (Cena) would have been my answer, but he’s retired, so I’m gonna say Kevin Steen.”

Kevin Steen became Kevin Owens in WWE. Steen had less limitations in what he said and did in the ring compared to Owens.

Asked why Kevin Steen and not Kevin Owens, MJF replied, “No, I want Kevin Steen, the one that I watched in Ring of Honor. Not saying Kevin Owens isn’t spectacular. Kevin Owens is one of the best wrestlers in the world, and it sucks that he’s hurt right now. It kills me. But Kevin Owens can’t exactly say some of the things that Kevin Steen was able to say back in the day. So I want Kevin Steen. That’s a dream match for me. I think that would probably go down as one of the greatest matches of all time and one of the greatest promos of all time. I think I also have to say Seth Rollins, for sure.”

Owens is currently sidelined after undergoing neck surgery in 2025. It is unknown when he will return to the ring.

Elsewhere during the interview, MJF commented on his feud with CM Punk. You can find his comments here.
