David Finlay Believes Callum Newman Is A ‘Coward’ For Not Hitting Will Ospreay With A Steel Chair At NJPW New Year’s Dash

David Finlay believes that Callum Newman is ‘a coward’ for not taking his chance to hit Will Ospreay with a steel chair.

At NJPW New Year’s Dash earlier this year, Will Ospreay would make a surprise appearance, reuniting with his former United Empire teammates. During the segment, Callum Newman would pick of a chair and motioned like he was ready to strike Ospreay, before he stopped.

While speaking to NJPW in a new interview, David Finlay spoke about how Newman as a rival.

“Well, he knows that you can’t move up unless you beat the guy above you. Newman isn’t related to Will Ospreay but they used to be good friends, and it’s a big brother little brother situation. Of course Newman wants to say he’s better than Ospreay, everybody does because he’s one of the best in the world. Not many people can say they’re better than Ospreay; I can, but Callum’s not there yet, and that’s why he’s coming after me. “

Finlay continued, noting that he thinks that Callum is ‘a coward’ for not using the chair.

“What I saw in that interaction with Callum and Ospreay was Callum knows what he wants and he might just have the will to do what it takes to get it. I also thought Callum’s a coward. He had a chair in his hand and he didn’t pull the trigger.”

Newman and Finlay are set to face off later this month at New Beginning.

Earlier this year, Fightful Select reported on Finlay’s current contract status along with WWE interest. You can read more about that here.
