Cody Rhodes Wanted To Get Tribal Tattoo During Tag Run With Jey Uso: “I Wrote To You Guys, ‘Did Any White Guys Ever Get A Samoan Tattoo?’”
Rhodes was riding high after he and Jey Uso won the tag belts.
It was in late 2023 that Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso became Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. They won the titles at the Fastlane Premium Live Event, and afterward, they took to the press conference stage after engaging in some post-title win drinking.
After hearing Jey say that Cody was the only person other than Jimmy Uso that he’s won tag team titles with, Rhodes took that to heart and was considering the idea of getting a Polynesian tribal tattoo. He said the following on his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast:
“But, I don’t know if you remember how bad I was (after the 2023 Fastlane press conference). This is rough, and it’s probably in a group thread with your brother. I wrote to you guys, ‘Did any white guys ever get a Samoan tattoo?’ I was ready,” Rhodes laughed. “When you said the thing about, ‘I never won a belt with anyone other than my brother,’ I was like, oh dude, sir, I wanna be his brother. I’m glad because you guys just laughed it off and you’re like, ‘Yeahhh,’ and then I think somebody sent me a YouTube video. I was like, ‘Okay. That’s not — I got you.’”
Rhodes and Uso were back in tag team action on the Friday Night SmackDown before the 2026 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event.
