Tony Khan: “I Have Only The Highest Praise For AJ Styles”
The AEW/ROH owner speaks about AJ Styles.
The latest update on AJ Styles came from Fightful Select, and it was noted that Styles was a big topic of conversation at AEW last week. No one is aware of his status, but if he becomes available, everyone that Fightful spoke to in AEW believes Styles will be approached by the company.
Styles’ WWE in-ring career came to an end when he was defeated by GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. The stipulation was that if Styles lost, he had to retire.
Styles was spoken about by AEW President Tony Khan during an appearance on the Battleground Podcast. Khan was asked what Styles means to pro wrestling.
“Oh, I’m a huge fan of AJ Styles. I think he’s incredible. He’s had great matches all over the world. We were just talking about ROH. He did some incredible things in ROH that are a part of our library, and also with our partners at New Japan Pro-Wrestling, he was involved in some of the all-time greatest matches. His match with Minoru Suzuki is one of my all-time favorites, and he’s had great matches with multiple companies all over the world. He’s never been in AEW before but he’s certainly, with a lot of the promotions we work with, and of course in ROH, he has a great history and for me, he’s one of my all-time favorites just personally. In my opinion, I think he’s one of the greatest wrestlers ever. So, I have only the highest praise for AJ Styles.”
After the Royal Rumble, Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque stated that Styles told him that he’s done with the in-ring portion of his career.
