CM Punk Says He Never Pushed AJ Lee Towards WWE Return, ‘I Tried To Be A Fly On The Wall’
CM Punk didn’t pressure AJ Lee to return.
Lee shocked fans around the world on the September 5, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown, as she returned to wrestling for the first time in ten years. Since then, Lee has wrestled in two matches. According to WrestleVotes and Fightful Select, Lee is expected to face Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42.
Speaking with GQ Sports for a new interview, CM Punk noted that he tried to be subtle when it came to the potential return of his wife.
“I tried to be a fly on the wall. I would answer questions when asked and I never pushed her towards it. I would just tell her of my experiences and my point of view and I let her make her own decisions. Because a little secret about my wife: Can’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to do. She’s a lot like me in that respect. I just was there to answer questions and help guide her if she wanted that, and luckily, it all worked out.”
